Safe and Effective Public Transportation
With more than 180,000 feet and wheels living in 4 square miles, our public transit, street and curb designs must put the safety of people first. This begins with human centered design, and safety for our most vulnerable road users. Please stop telling people how they can get to work, or school and try to understand that community means everyone has choice.

Ensure Public Health and Safety
Public health focuses on prevention through education, policy change, direct services, and research. This is how we keep our community safe and thriving.
We must prioritize the health of our roads, parks, buildings, technology, and First Responders with the same dedication.
Invest in Affordable Housing
I have been told the "tools available to us are limited". Yet "build more it will lower the price", and "up-zoning" will never lower our permit fees or reduce construction costs.
New housing with 20% inclusionary (affordable) has 80% market (often luxury), and people are moving here who can afford the higher prices!
We cannot blame investors for following our 20% rule. We need to partner with others, invest in maintaining our current inclusionary inventory, and be proactive by seeking grants! We also need to understand the future strain being placed on our natural resources, utility grid, water, sewer, first responders and green canopy.

Invest in Education
All children should be able to read at grade level in Somerville. They deserve buildings that are well maintained, free breakfast and free lunch, outdoor spaces to play and learn, and staff that is supported and valued.
We will not choose lawyers over fully funded Individual Education Plans (IEPs), or spend years debating the needs of the Brown and Winter Hill students.
Preschool, after-school and summer programming for all children must be provided.
